N.A.E.T. (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques) offers a unique approach to addressing allergies and sensitivities. Research has been conducted on the effectiveness of N.A.E.T. for autistic children, and further studies are currently in progress.
Whether you're new to N.A.E.T. or looking to optimize your child's experience, understanding how to get the most out of each session can make a world of difference. In this article, I’ll share some practical tips to help you maximize the benefits of N.A.E.T. and make your child's journey toward improved health even more effective.
1. Before starting N.A.E.T., it's important to have a strong, positive emotional connection with your child. They should feel completely safe and trust you fully. If that bond isn’t quite there yet, take some time to nurture it first—it will make a big difference in their experience. The Happier Mom Daily Celebration Journal is a great tool to help strengthen that connection.
2. It’s best to schedule appointments on Fridays so your child has the following day to rest and adjust without the pressure of school. This can help make the experience smoother and more comfortable for them.
3. If your child is very sensitive to sound, light, smell, touch, and taste, here are ways to help:
a. Sound– Talk in a positive and loving voice to your child before and after treatment.
b. Light- Consider having your child wear light sensitivity glasses to the appointment. Many autistic children are sensitive to fluorescent lighting which is commonly found in offices.
c. Smell– Your child may be sensitive to smells coming from other people. It would be best to avoid other people in the waiting room so that your child does not get triggered. You can stay outside the office and let the receptionist inform you when the doctor is ready.
d. Touch– Rub your child’s back at the office before and after treatment. This will keep them in a state of relaxation.
e. Taste– Spray your child’s mouth with a preventative throat spray such as propolis to help boost your child’s immune system (unless it is a prohibited item for that treatment).
4. Have your child relax in a private room after treatment. If this is not possible, find a quiet space outside so that your child can avoid triggers. Rub your child’s back to soothe them.
5. You and your child should wash your hands thoroughly before leaving the office or at least rub hands for 30 seconds.
6. Monitor your child for the next 25 hours.
7. Drink plenty of water (be prepared with distilled water if your child has just been treated with the salt mix, mineral mix, calcium mix, or chemical mix).
8. Don’t have your child shower within 6 hours of their treatment.
9. Avoid triggering environments for 25 hours such as school. Loud noises and smells can cause patients to lose control of equilibrium and muscles.
10. Avoid activities that are distressing for your child.
11. Try engaging in activities on the ground, like playing board or card games, using a keyboard, or enjoying a meal together.
12. If you think it will help soothe your child, allow them to eat on the ground while watching a TV show. Mealtimes at the family table can be overwhelming with the sounds, lights, and smells, and they may also feel uncomfortable being too close to others eating foods they can’t have. Creating a calmer environment can make mealtime more manageable for them.
13. If your child gets distressed, gently soothe them immediately by hugging them and rubbing their back slowly from top to bottom. Offer a massage.
14. Do point therapy every hour (if your child is very emotionally sensitive) after coming back home. If your child doesn’t like point therapy, just massage those points.
15. Consider having your child take nerve-strengthening supplements after their allergens are all cleared, such as MaryRuth Organics Kids Brain Supplements for Memory and Focus.
